Prego, Italian restaurant at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace is your go to place if you are looking for a fresh take on Italian cuisine that is.

Italian Chef Marouane Rahali who has been specially flown in from Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield and who is a native of Pulgia, Italy brings a fresh perspective to Italian cuisine as we have known it. He has deviated from the usual heavy and cheese laden sauces and always-on-the-menu pastas and pizzas; instead he presents what he calls as ‘bikini proof’ menu for the simple reason that it is light and fresh.

This menu is light on your stomach but flavorsome for your taste buds. You will surely be impressed with the fresh flavors that you would get with the much use of fresh herbs (rocket leaves my favorite in the pizza) in just about all of the dishes – Farm to Fork, yes you got that right.

The exotic line up of dishes includes Parma ham, marinated melon and Pizza montanara- the chef jokingly said that this is the ‘Italian Pani Puri’. There was also Broccoli and Potato Ravioli with cherry tomato and basil sauce, Bianca pizza with mozzarella, pesto, raw tomatoes, rocket leaves and parmesan cheese, Tagliolini pasta with prawn sauce and basil zucchini cream, Lobster stuffed pasta with aglio olio sauce and cream of green asparagus, marinated Sea Bass cooked with crispy potatoes, zucchini and cherry tomato jus, coffee marinated lamb loin with potato mousseline and summer vegetables and for the dessert pineapple carpaccio, basil, cane sugar and fresh lime and orange flower parfait with pistachio crumbs was such a refreshing and citrusy yet sweet flavor that it would linger on for some time.

While all the dishes stood out for their flavor and authenticity my personal favorites are Pizza Montara and Bianca Pizza is a must try if you are a vegetarian – the crust was the thinnest possible and the toppings that included rocket leaves made it feel so fresh in my mouth.  Another dish that stood out was marinated Sea Bass cooked in crust of crispy potato, zucchini and cherry tomato jus which was done to perfection and all the dishes paired very well with wine.
